化学性质：石英玻璃是酸性材料，除氢氟酸和热磷酸外，它对任何
其他酸都呈惰性，是一种非常好的耐酸材料，比普通石英玻璃具有更好的化学稳定性，不吸湿、不风化。
电学性质：石英玻璃具有高介电强度和低电导率，即使在高温、高压和高频下，仍能保持高介电强度和电阻，在应用的频率范围内几乎没有介电损耗，因此石英玻璃是优异的高温电介质绝缘材料。
光学性能：石英玻璃具有其独特的光学性能，它可以透过远紫外光谱，是所有紫外透过材料的良好选择，并且可以透过可见光和近红外光谱，耐高温，热膨胀系数小，化学热稳定性好，气泡、条纹、均匀性、双折射与普通光学玻璃相当。
热学性质：石英玻璃的热膨胀系数很小，仅为普通玻璃的十二分之一到二十分之一，标准规定试样烧至1200℃后急冷入冷水中，反复三次以上不允许炸裂。
机械性能：石英玻璃的机械性能优于钠钙玻璃和陶瓷，但脆性较差。石英玻璃的理论计算强度很高，约为24 * 1.3 MPA，但实际测得的强度比该值低几十倍。
气密性：石英的结构非常松散，即使在高温下也允许某些气体的离子通过网络扩散，包括钠离子的扩散速度更快。石英玻璃的这一特性对用户尤为重要。
